“…for the true gin explorer”
EAST INDIA COMPANY GIN
The East India Company made a wide range of elusive, exclusive and exotic wares familiar, affordable and available to the world; which now form part of our daily lives. Today we continue to develop and market unique and innovative products that breathe life into the history of The Company. We trade goods crafted by artisans and specialists from around the world, carefully sourced, with unique and distinguished provenances.
The history of gin and the pioneering East India Company are inextricably linked…from the earliest ships returning to port ladened with exotic botanicals and spices, so vital for the London Dry Gin style gin, to the ingenuity of those in India who added water, sugar and lime with a splash of gin to quinine. Thus making a palatable concoction to ward off malaria, and so creating the famous G&T.
The East India Company Gin is produced in collaboration with Charles Maxwell – 8th generation distillers.
DFG Partner Region – Global (except US & Canada)
Created with 12 botanicals; six are classics, the others intrinsic to The East India Company, including galangal, long pepper and amchur – unique to our gin. Botanicals are steeped for fourteen hours prior to distillation, to impart the perfect level of avour and balance. The gin is distilled over a six-hour period in a 205 litre still named Thumbelina, and then rested for one week, before being cut to 42% ABV, an ideal complement for the following blend of botanicals:
- Sweet Orange
- Cocoa Beans
- Orris Root
- Green Cardamon
- Amchur Powder
- Long Pepper
